Challenge Awards Overview

Thanks to generous support from our state partners, Wisconsin AAA and PeopleForBikes, Fire Up Your Feet will award more than $5,000 to Wisconsin schools during the October 1-31, 2014 Fire Up Your Feet Fall Activity Challenge.

Final Challenge Awards: Final Challenge Awards are calculated by the following formula:

Total number of students, parents/guardians and school staff that tracked during the Challenge period, divided by school enrollment.

1     $1,000 first place award

1     $800 second place award

1     $500 third place award

Other Challenge Awards 

1   $500 PeopleForBikes Challenge Award: The school with the most bicycling minutes during the month of October will win a $500 award and package of bicycling products and discounts from partners.

4   $300 Regional Wisconsin AAA Challenge Awards:  $300 will be awarded to the school in each of the following regions* with highest participation rate for the entirety of the challenge period. Schools in these regions that win any other Challenges awards, including the the overall state awards, are eligible to receive the Regional Award as well. 

*Regions: Milwaukee Public Schools, Dane County, La Crosse County, East Central Region (Calumet County, Fond du Lac County, Green Lake County, Marquette County, Menominee County, Outagamie County, Shawano County, Waupaca County, Waushara County and Winnebago County)

1    $300 Fire Up Your Walk to School Award: Schools with a minimum of 25 walkers at the end of the Challenge will be entered into a drawing for one Fire Up Your Walk to School Award. We strongly suggest these awards be used for Safe Routes to School encouragement programming activities. Click here for tips and ideas to help get the word out about this award offering.

1   $200 Small School Award: Schools with less than 100 students are eligible to compete for all awards, except for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Final Challenge Awards. This award will be given to the school with the most students, parents/guardians, and school staff tracking during the Challenge Period, divided by total school enrollment.

Weekly Challenge Awards 

  • Week 1: 3-2-1 Blastoff Award: Any school with 20 participants tracking at least one activity using the coordinator or individual tracker between October 1-7 will be entered into a drawing for one $100 award.
  • Week 2: "Walk it Out" Award: In honor of International Walk to School Day, the school that tracks the most walkers between October 8-14 will earn a $100 award. 
  • Week 3: Old School and New School Awards: The school with the biggest increase in participation from the previous Challenge will win a $100 award. New schools participating for the first time with the most participants tracking activity between the beginning of the Challenge and October 21 will earn a $100 award.
  • Week 4: Reflect and Reward $100 Drawing: Between October 22-28, participants are invited to submit a short paragraph about how Fire Up Your Feet has benefitted their school. All submissions will be entered into a drawing for a $100 award. Please send paragraphs to info@fireupyourfeet.org
